Thomas Ashton Institute for Risk and Regulatory Research

About

The Thomas Ashton Institute (TAI) is a unique strategic partnership spanning faculties within The University of Manchester and the Science Hubs of HSE. It’s the only cross-disciplinary institute in the country that considers future impact from the individual to the national scale and provides advice across sectors on risk management and resilience for the future.

It further acts a conduit, through collaborations with other UoM institutes, to bring university expertise to the world of work. Further, post-COVID-19, we will provide support to generate the evidence base to restart workplaces with minimal risk.

Ashton’s interface to government, understanding of the national regulatory agenda and partnership with HSE, has already spawned multiple projects from UKRI, Lloyds Research Foundation and particularly from COVID-19 calls, and to date we have ca. £12M of funding awarded and in review from UKRI and other national bodies.
